# About InsightPins

InsightPins is a one-person company. It makes [Pin Stats](https://insightpins.com/features.html), a Chrome extension that shows Pinterest engagement numbers on pins as you browse. This page says who builds it, what it does, and - just as importantly - what it does not do.

## Who builds it

I have been building websites for more than 15 years, and a lot of that time has gone into working out where traffic actually comes from. Pinterest turned out to be one of the most efficient channels I tried, so I started building small tools for my own workflow: things that showed me which pins were working and why, without clicking into each one. Pin Stats is what those microtools became once other people started asking for them.

That is also why the extension is narrow. It solves the problem I had rather than trying to be a full Pinterest suite.

## What Pin Stats is

A Chrome extension for Pinterest analytics. It overlays engagement metrics on pins while you browse Pinterest, collects them into a sortable and filterable table, and exports that table to CSV or JSON. It works on your own pins and on pins you do not own, which is the part Pinterest's own dashboard will not do.

## What Pin Stats does not do

This list exists because it is the part most software sites leave out, and because getting it wrong wastes your time and mine.

-   **It does not show clicks or impressions.** Those live in Pinterest's own analytics for your own account, and no extension can see them for pins you do not own. If you need outbound clicks or impression counts, use Pinterest Analytics - the two are complements, not substitutes.
-   **It does not track pins over time.** You can sort and filter the pins currently loaded in your browser, not a competitor's performance over the past year.

-   **It is not affiliated with Pinterest.** InsightPins is an independent product and is not endorsed by or connected to Pinterest, Inc.

## How we handle accuracy

Every article on this site is written and reviewed by me, and each one carries a publication date and, where it has been revised, a last-updated date.

When an article recommends Pin Stats or Keyword Explorer among other tools, it says plainly that the product is ours. Competitor tools are described from their public pricing and feature pages, and we link to them so you can check.
